How Does CEREC Work? At the heart of the system is the innovative technology!
First, the tooth is prepared, then a 3-D digital photo is taken using a special
camera. Computer aided design technology (CAD) helps the doctor design the
restoration from the optical impression. Then computer aided manufacturing (CAM)
mills the restoration from a ceramic block that matches the patient's tooth color.
The milling process takes about 15 minutes. Finally, the newly milled restoration is
bonded to the tooth.
